Acute Hypercapnia/Ischemia Alters the Esterification of Arachidonic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid Epoxide Metabolites in Rat Brain Neutral Lipids. [PDF]
In the brain, approximately 90% of oxylipins are esterified to lipids. However, the significance of this esterification process is not known. In the present study, we (1) validated an aminopropyl solid phase extraction (SPE) method for separating ...

Proteinuria increases oxylipid concentrations in VLDL and HDL but not LDL particles in the rat
We previously established that proteinuria alters the apolipoprotein content of lipoproteins. This study was conducted to establish whether proteinuria also alters the concentrations of oxidized lipids within lipoprotein density fractions.

Race‐based and sex‐based differences in bioactive lipid mediators after myocardial infarction
Aims Leucocyte‐directed specialized pro‐resolving mediators (SPMs) are essential for cardiac repair, and their biosynthesis coincides with the expression of pro‐inflammatory mediators; however, the precise quantitation during an acute myocardial ...

Preparation of 20-HETE using multifunctional enzyme type 2-negative Starmerella bombicola[S]
The metabolism of arachidonic acid (ARA) by cytochrome P450 ω/ω-1-hydroxylases leads to the formation of 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE), which is an important lipid-signaling molecule involved in regulation of vascular tone, angiogenesis, and ...

Amniotic fluid 5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid in preterm labor
5-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (5-HETE) is an arachidonate lipoxygenase product capable of stimulating human uterine contractility in a dose-dependent manner in vitro. The purpose of this study was to determine if preterm labor is associated with changes in the concentration of this metabolite in amniotic fluid.
