Generation of Pseudo Metabolites as a Side Reaction in On‐Tissue Chemical Derivatization in Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 12, November 2025.
On‐tissue chemical derivatization reagents enhance sensitivity and specificity, but the impact of side reactions remains understudied. The reactive matrix FMP‐10 promotes Mukaiyama‐like condensation reactions between endogenous metabolites to form pseudo metabolites that are structurally identical to endogenous metabolites.

COSMOS 2044. Experiment K-7-19. Pineal physiology in microgravity: Relation to rat gonadal function [PDF]

open access: yes
It is now known that the pineal organ can interact with many endocrine and nonendocrine tissues in a regulatory fashion. Given its key role in the regulation of melatonin synthesis, its high concentration, and that its levels may persist longer than the ...

Neurotransmitters and Immunity: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Potential Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Role of neurotransmitters in multiple pathological processes. Various neurotransmitters, including ACh, EPI, NE, 5‐HT, histamine, DA, glutamate, GABA, and neuropeptides participate in regulating key pathological events, including tumor proliferation, tumor migration, remodeling of the immune microenvironment, and the development of NDDs and ...

Emergence time and skin melanin spot patterns do not correlate with growth performance, social competitive ability or stress response in farmed rainbow trout [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In wild salmonid fish, specific individual behavioral traits have been correlated with the timing of fry emergence from their gravel spawning nests; Early emerging fish display more aggressive behavior and have a higher probability of becoming socially ...

Tryptophan derivatives as non‐invasive diagnostic indicators for obesity‐related MASLD in children and adolescents

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 12, Page 7544-7560, December 2025.
Abstract Aims Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) represents a major health burden in children and adolescents with obesity. This study aimed to characterize metabolic alterations associated with obesity‐related MASLD and to evaluate the potential of tryptophan (TRP)‐derived metabolites as non‐invasive biomarkers for early ...

Maternal Obesity in Pregnancy: Risk Factor for Neurodevelopmental Outcomes in Offspring

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 12, December 2025.
Maternal obesity during pregnancy induces metabolic and inflammatory disturbances that alter the offspring brain environment, characterized by neuroinflammation, glial activation, disrupted neurotransmitter signaling, and mitochondrial and synaptic dysfunction, ultimately increasing the risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes, with persistent ...
