Burn‐Induced Gut Microbiota Dysbiosis Aggravates Skeletal Muscle Atrophy by Tryptophan‐Kynurenine Mediated AHR Pathway Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
This study elucidates a pivotal crosstalk between the gut microbiota and skeletal muscles atrophy induced by burn injuries, a process fueled by the overactivation of IDO‐1 in the colon. This overactivation initiates the metabolism of tryptophan into kynurenine.

Tyrosine hydroxylase deficiency: a treatable disorder of brain catecholamine biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Tyrosine hydroxylase deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder resulting from cerebral catecholamine deficiency. Tyrosine hydroxylase deficiency has been reported in fewer than 40 patients worldwide. To recapitulate all available evidence on clinical

Metabolomics and Microbiomics Perspectives Reveal the Regulatory Pathways of Monaphilone B Derived From Red Yeast Rice on Alcoholic Liver Injury in Mice

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2025.
Monaphilone B (MB) from red yeast rice mitigates alcoholic liver injury through the regulation of the gut microbiome, liver metabolism, lipid metabolism, and oxidative defense. ABSTRACT Red yeast rice (RYR) has been extensively used as a natural food for thousands of years and still plays an important role in the world food industry. In this study, the

Modeling of the formation of short-chain acids in propane flames [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
In order to better understand their potential formation in combustion systems, a detailed kinetic mechanism for the formation of short-chain monocarboxylic acids, formic (HCOOH), acetic (CH3COOH), propionic (C2H5COOH) and propenic (C2H3COOH)) acids, has been developed. Simulations of lean (equivalence ratios from 0.9 to 0.48) laminar premixed flames of

Discovery Of Copper Catalyst For New Chemical Polishing Acid On Superconducting Niobium [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
High field Q-slope (HFQS) seriously limits the high gradient performance of the buffered chemically polished (BCP) superconducting radio frequency (SRF) niobium cavities. The direct cause or mechanism is not yet fully understood. In our recent extensive data analysis, we concluded that the potential root cause could be nitrogen contamination on the ...

A thermodynamic basis for prebiotic amino acid synthesis and the nature of the first genetic code [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Of the twenty amino acids used in proteins, ten were formed in Miller's atmospheric discharge experiments. The two other major proposed sources of prebiotic amino acid synthesis include formation in hydrothermal vents and delivery to Earth via meteorites.

COSMOS 2044. Experiment K-7-19. Pineal physiology in microgravity: Relation to rat gonadal function [PDF]

open access: yes
It is now known that the pineal organ can interact with many endocrine and nonendocrine tissues in a regulatory fashion. Given its key role in the regulation of melatonin synthesis, its high concentration, and that its levels may persist longer than the ...

Oxidative stress parameters in plasma of Huntington's disease patients, asymptomatic Huntington's disease gene carriers and healthy subjects : a cross-sectional study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND : Animal data and postmortem studies suggest a role of oxidative stress in the Huntington's disease (HD), but in vivo human studies have been scarce.

The Influence of Dietary Synbiotic on Agonistic Behavior, Stress, and Brain Monoamines via Modulation of the Microbiota–Gut–Brain Axis in Laying Hens

open access: yesPoultry
A complex system of neural pathways, collectively known as the microbiota–gut–brain (MGB) axis, interconnects the gut microbiota, the gastrointestinal system, and the brain along with its periphery.

The Kynurenine Pathway and Indole Pathway in Tryptophan Metabolism Influence Tumor Progression

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 6, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Tryptophan (Trp), an essential amino acid, is solely acquired through dietary intake. It is vital for protein biosynthesis and acts as a precursor for numerous key bioactive compounds. The Kynurenine Pathway and the Indole Pathway are the main metabolic routes and are extensively involved in the occurrence and progression of diseases in the ...
