A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...

Extracorporeal Catalytic Hemoperfusion Therapy for Refractory Septic Shock Using Ceria Nanoparticle‐Embedded Porous Microbeads

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

Deciphering the Origin of Higher Shell Coordination on Single Iron Catalysts for Resilient Modulating Persulfate Oxidation Into Singlet Oxygen Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reveals that higher shell S coordination can effectively modulate the spin state of FeN4 site via long‐range electronic interactions, giving rise to the oriented generation of singlet oxygen from peroxymonosulfate activation. Abstract Precise manipulation of coordination structure of single‐atom sites and establishment of schematic ...

Glucosides from the unripe fruit juice of Carica papaya Linn. (Caricaceae) cultivar ‘Red Lady’ with antioxidant activity

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods, 2016
Natural antioxidants from Carica papaya (‘Red Lady’ cultivar) were investigated. Reversed phase chromatography of the fruit juice gave 12 fractions that were subjected to DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays. Purification of Cp7 afforded isopropyl

Mitochondrial toxins potentiate hydroxyl radical production in rat striatum during carbon monoxide poisoning

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2021
Hydroxyl radical (•OH) production in the rat striatum during carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, which inhibits complex IV, was enhanced synergistically by malonate, a mitochondrial complex II inhibitor, but not N-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium or NaCN, complex I

Transport of secondary electrons and reactive species in ion tracks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The transport of reactive species brought about by ions traversing tissue-like medium is analysed analytically. Secondary electrons ejected by ions are capable of ionizing other molecules; the transport of these generations of electrons is studied using the random walk approximation until these electrons remain ballistic.
