A yeast three-hybrid system that reconstitutes mammalian hypoxia inducible factor regulatory machinery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: Several human pathologies, including neoplasia and ischemic cardiovascular diseases, course with an unbalance between oxygen supply and demand ( hypoxia).

The regulatory mechanisms of proline and hydroxyproline metabolism: Recent advances in perspective

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
For diverse human tumors, growth and metastasis are dependent on proline synthesis, but the mechanisms underlying this association are not clear. Proline incorporated into collagen is primarily synthesized from glutamine.

Tyrosine Hydroxylation in Betalain Pigment Biosynthesis Is Performed by Cytochrome P450 Enzymes in Beets (Beta vulgaris)

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Yellow and red-violet betalain plant pigments are restricted to several families in the order Caryophyllales, where betacyanins play analogous biological roles to anthocyanins. The initial step in betalain biosynthesis is the hydroxylation of tyrosine to

Computational Modeling of Reticular Materials: The Past, the Present, and the Future

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reticular materials are advanced materials with applications in emerging technologies. A thorough understanding of material properties at operating conditions is critical to accelerate the deployment at an industrial scale. Herein, the status of computational modeling of reticular materials is reviewed, supplemented with topical examples highlighting ...

P450BM3-Catalyzed Oxidations Employing Dual Functional Small Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A set of dual functional small molecules (DFSMs) containing different amino acids has been synthesized and employed together with three different variants of the cytochrome P450 monooxygenase P450BM3 from Bacillus megaterium in H2O2-dependent oxidation

On the heterogeneity of the mitochondrial C27-steroid 26-hydroxylase system

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
Mitochondrial 26-hydroxylation of exogenous cholesterol, endogenous cholesterol, and 5β-cholestane-3α,7α,12α-triol was studied. 26-Hydroxylation of endogenous cholesterol was measured by mass fragmentography.

Cold sensitivity of TRPA1 is unveiled by the prolyl hydroxylation blockade-induced sensitization to ROS

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Mammalian transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) is a polymodal nociceptor that plays an important role in pain generation, but its role as a cold nociceptor is still controversial.

Characterization of 6 alpha-hydroxylation of taurochenodeoxycholic acid in pig liver.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
The properties of the species-specific 6 alpha-hydroxylation of taurochenodeoxycholic acid were studied in subcellular fractions from pig liver. The hydroxylation was observed in microsomes but not in mitochondria.
