The use of hypertonic solutions in sepsis
Trends in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, 2013 Summary Fluid therapy is a key component in the treatment of patients with septic shock. Recent data suggests that hypertonic fluid administration in sepsis may have beneficial effects on the global circulation and the cardiac function that exceed simple intravascular volume expansion.

The role of the vagus nerve in hypertonic resuscitation of hemorrhagic shocked dogs
Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2004 Previous studies have suggested a critical role for the vagi during the hypertonic resuscitation of hemorrhagic shocked dogs. Vagal blockade prevented the full hemodynamic and metabolic recovery and increased mortality.
