Ice nucleation catalyzed by the photosynthesis enzyme RuBisCO and other abundant biomolecules

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment, 2023
Ice nucleation experiments suggest that the abundant plant protein RuBisCO is an efficient ice nucleating particle in the atmosphere, with analyses of ambient aerosols sampled in Texas confirming its presence and ice nucleating potential in the ...

Integrated disease management using environmental control in tea fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The occurrence of plant disease depends on interactions between the host plant, a pathogen, and the environment in a dynamic called "the disease triangle". Bacterial shoot blight (BSB) disease, caused by _Pseudomonas syringae_ pv.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Experimental investigation of Ice plant using different concentrations of Nano lubricant with primary refrigerant R-134a

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering
In this study the performance analysis of ice plant is carried out experimentally for different concentration (0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4%) of TiO2 with (POE) lubricant using R-134a as a primary refrigerant in to the system.

Ice Nucleation in Tomato Plants

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1985
Abstract Tomato plants ( Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. ‘US 28’) and plant parts ranging in fresh weight from 6 mg to 180 g were frozen in the presence and absence of epiphytic ice nucleation active (INA) bacteria.

The effect of protein and lipid source in organic feed for organic trout on sensory quality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this work was to study whether the type of protein and lipid source in feed for organic Rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) influenced the sensory quality.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Genome-wide identification, evolution and expression analysis of the PP2C gene family in ice plant

open access: yesVegetable Research
Potein phosphatase 2C (PP2C) plays essential roles in plant stress signal transduction. However, the PP2C gene family of ice plant (Mesembryanthemum crystallinum), halophytes that can grow under high salt conditions, has been rarely reported.
