Evolution of ice-shelf channels in Antarctic ice shelves [PDF]
Abstract. Ice shelves buttress the continental ice flux and mediate ice–ocean interactions. They are often traversed by channels in which basal melting is enhanced, impacting ice-shelf stability. Here, channel evolution is investigated using a transient, three-dimensional full Stokes model and geophysical data collected on Roi Baudouin Ice Shelf (RBIS),

This study reports the preparation and characterization of ZIF‐67 through the recycling of spent synthesis liquor containing unreacted 2‐methylimidazole. Materials were characterized using XRD, SEM, N2 physisorption, and SAXS. The recycling enhanced the yield of ZIF‐67 while maintaining the dodecahedral rhombic morphology of the particles. In the first

Recent results from the ARIANNA neutrino experiment [PDF]
The ARIANNA experiment is currently taking data in its pilot-phase on the Ross ice-shelf. Fully autonomous stations measure radio signals in the frequency range from 100 MHz to 1 GHz. The seven station HRA was completed in December 2014, and augmented by two special purpose stations with unique configurations.

This study investigated the effect of ferulic acid (FA) on the cold tolerance of banana fruit under 6°C‐storage for 7 days. In comparison with control, 3 mM FA treatment significantly alleviated chilling symptoms of banana fruit by enhancing phenylpropanoid metabolism and maintaining redox and energy homeostasis. ABSTRACT Banana fruit is susceptible to

Stochastic Guidance of Buoyancy Controlled Vehicles under Ice Shelves using Ocean Currents [PDF]
We propose a novel technique for guidance of buoyancy-controlled vehicles in uncertain under-ice ocean flows. In-situ melt rate measurements collected at the grounding zone of Antarctic ice shelves, where the ice shelf meets the underlying bedrock, are essential to constrain models of future sea level rise.

ARIANNA: Current developments and understanding the ice for neutrino detection [PDF]
The ARIANNA experiment aims to detect the radio signals of cosmogenic neutrinos. It is running in its pilot phase on the Ross Ice-shelf, and one station has been installed at South Pole. The ARIANNA concept is based on installing high-gain log periodic dipole antennas close to the surface monitoring the underlying ice for the radio signals following a ...

Ice-shelf stability questioned
Surface lakes and streams are forming on Antarctica's ice shelves, making them susceptible to instability and possible collapse. But rivers could mitigate this effect by efficiently exporting meltwater to the ocean.

Use of Liquid Nitrogen in Food Products: A Review
ABSTRACT The increasing demand for frozen products has led companies to offer a variety of foods that may struggle to maintain quality. Traditional freezing methods often negatively impact food quality, affecting texture, color, flavor, and so forth.

The dominant mass-loss process on the Antarctic Peninsula has been ice-shelf collapse, including the Larsen A Ice Shelf in early 1995. Following this collapse, there was rapid speed up and thinning of its tributary glaciers.
