An extra dimension in protein tagging by quantifying universal proteotypic peptides using targeted proteomics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The use of protein tagging to facilitate detailed characterization of target proteins has not only revolutionized cell biology, but also enabled biochemical analysis through efficient recovery of the protein complexes wherein the tagged proteins reside ...

Respostas de frangos de corte a aumentos graduais na relação entre treonina e lisina Broiler responses to graded increases in the threonine to lysine ratio

Entropic Landscape: the method to predict folding patterns and regional stability of proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
I propose a new method to calculate the entropy of a given protein sequence fragment. The set of fragment entropies over all possible fragments of the given sequence shows which region of the sequence is statistically stable and which region has a strong

DESEMPENHO DE FRANGOS DE CORTE, SEXADOS, SUBMETIDOS A DIETAS FORMULADAS PELOS CONCEITOS DE PROTEÍNA BRUTA versus PROTEÍNA IDEAL PERFORMANCE OF SEXED BROILER BIRDS, SUBMITTED TO DIETS FORMULATED BY THE CONCEPTS OF CRUDE PROTEIN versus IDEAL PROTEIN

Focusing Capillary Optics for Use in Solution Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering

open access: yes, 2007
Measurements of the global conformation of macromolecules can be carried out using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Glass focusing capillaries, manufactured at the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), have been successfully employed for ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Beyond icosahedral symmetry in packings of proteins in spherical shells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The formation of quasi-spherical cages from protein building blocks is a remarkable self-assembly process in many natural systems, where a small number of elementary building blocks are assembled to build a highly symmetric icosahedral cage.

How much does TRPV1 deviate from an ideal MWC-type protein?

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2023
AbstractMany ion channels are known to behave as an allosteric protein, coupling environmental stimuli captured by specialized sensing domains to the opening of a central pore. The classic Monod-Wyman-Changeux (MWC) model, originally proposed to describe binding of gas molecules to hemoglobin, has been widely used for analyzing ion channel gating. Here

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
