Mild Short‐Term Caloric Restriction Induces Coordinated Changes That Promote Lipid Deposition While Maintaining Thermogenesis Capacity in Interscapular Brown Adipose Tissue of Male Rats

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 3, 15 February 2026.
Rats under mild caloric restriction (85% vs. ad libitum) for 2 weeks show metabolic and structural adaptations in iBAT. Caloric restriction increases glycolysis and triglyceride deposition in the tissue, leading to larger lipid droplets. It also reduces mitochondrial iBAT content, while maintaining iBAT thermogenic potential thanks to an increased ...

Acoustic Sensing as a Tool for Brain Tumor Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 2, February 2026.
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensing is used to distinguish non‐neoplastic brain tissue from primary and metastatic tumors based on their acoustic attenuation signatures. Ex vivo human brain samples reveal clear tissue‐specific mechanical profiles, correlating with stiffness and malignancy.

Large deletions in the DNA primase large subunit PRIM2 are associated with NADP‐malate dehydrogenase activity in a porcine F2 cross

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 57, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Large porcine F2 crosses are a valuable resource for discovering QTL and genetic variants for relevant traits. Past studies have been largely limited to SNPs and short insertions and deletions. Structural variants (SVs) are becoming a major area of interest in this respect.

Glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is associated with improved survival in patients with acute myeloid leukemia treated with venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 3, 1 February 2026.
Abstract Background Glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency impairs cellular redox balance through reduced NADPH production and is the most common enzymatic disorder‐causing anemia. Venetoclax combined with azacitidine (Ven‐Aza) targets leukemic stem cells by disrupting oxidative phosphorylation and inducing mitochondrial stress. This study
