From Isolated to Complex: Diagnostic Yield of Chromosomal Microarray and Exome Sequencing in Fetal Growth Restriction

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the overall diagnostic yield of sequential chromosomal microarray (CMA) and exome sequencing (ES) across the phenotypic spectrum of fetal growth restriction (FGR). Methods A retrospective cohort of 320 consecutive FGR pregnancies presenting at ≥ 20 weeks to a tertiary fetal medicine unit (2020–2025).

Evolutionary Mechanisms of Coagulation Factors in Cetaceans During Aquatic Adaptation

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Compared with Bos taurus, T. truncatus showed shorter prothrombin time and thrombin time but prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time, indicating pathway‐specific remodeling of coagulation. Evolutionary analyses identified 18 positively selected genes and accelerated F11 evolution, while functional assays revealed increased coagulation factor ...

Variants in the Imprinted IGF2 Gene: A Review and Phasing of De Novo Variants Using Long‐Read Sequencing

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Pathogenic IGF2 variants on the paternal allele can cause Silver–Russell syndrome, with highly variable growth and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Long‐read sequencing can determine the parental origin of de novo IGF2 variants via methylation patterns without parental samples, improving diagnostics for imprinted genes.

Non‐Invasive Fibrosis Testing in Adults With Obesity and MASLD: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Adults with obesity are at increased risk of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)‐related fibrosis, but the diagnostic performance of non‐invasive tests (NITs) in this population remains uncertain. This meta‐analysis evaluated NITs for detecting significant (≥F2) and advanced (≥F3) fibrosis in adults with ...

Clinical, histopathological, and molecular features of adrenal adenoma, IGF2-low carcinoma, and IGF2-high carcinoma.

open access: yes, 2014
These various characteristics were determined as detailed in Material and Methods. P-values were calculated with the Fisher's exact test (a) or Wilcoxon test (b) and show no significant differences between IGF2-high and IGF2-low ACC.

Proteostasis in the regulation of pancreatic islet cell plasticity

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Adaptive proteostasis integrates protein synthesis, folding, trafficking, and degradation through ISR, UPR, ER stress responses, autophagy, and proteasomal degradation. In pancreatic islet cells, this coordinated network preserves protein quality, secretory function, proliferation, and survival, enabling adaptation to metabolic stress and aging while ...

Association of cord blood methylation fractions at imprinted insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2), plasma IGF2, and birth weight.

open access: yes, 2022
PurposeAltered methylation at Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) regulatory regions has previously been associated with obesity, and several malignancies including colon, esophageal, and prostate adenocarcinomas, presumably via changes in expression and/

Increased intragenic IGF2 methylation is associated with repression of insulator activity and elevated expression in serous ovarian carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2013
Overexpression of insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF2) is a prominent characteristic of many epithelial ovarian malignancies. IGF2 imprinting and transcription are regulated in part through DNA methylation, which in turn regulates binding of the ...

Periodontitis and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes: Mechanistic Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aims to describe mechanisms linking periodontal diseases in pregnancy with adverse pregnancy outcomes. ABSTRACT Periodontal diseases, including both gingivitis and periodontitis, occur commonly among pregnant individuals. Both gingivitis and periodontitis are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) such as early ...
