Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

Oncogenic Alternative Splicing Switches: Role in Cancer Progression and Prospects for Therapy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cell Biology, 2013
Alterations in the abundance or activities of alternative splicing regulators generate alternatively spliced variants that contribute to multiple aspects of tumor establishment, progression and resistance to therapeutic treatments.

The role of IgG avidity in diagnosis of cytomegalovirus infection in newborns and infants [Uloga IgG aviditeta u dijagnostici infekcije citomegalovirusom u novorođenčadi i dojenčadi] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To evaluate the value of IgG avidity in diagnosis of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in newborns and infants we collected serum samples from 40 infants under 12 months of age with suspected congenital CMV infection.

Probing the Intergalactic Medium with Ly$\mathrm{\alpha}$ and 21 cm Fluctuations

open access: yes, 2017
We study 21cm and Ly$\mathrm{\alpha}$ fluctuations, as well as H$\mathrm{\alpha}$, while distinguishing between Ly$\mathrm{\alpha}$ emission of galactic, diffuse, and scattered intergalactic medium (IGM) origin.

USB1 deficiency disrupts neutrophil maturation via RNA dysregulation independent of global pre‐mRNA splicing

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the essential role of USB1 in neutrophil maturation. In normal myeloid cells, USB1 acts as an RNA exonuclease, trimming RNA tails to maintain proper RNA network function, which supports the differentiation of myeloid progenitor cells into mature neutrophils.

Advances and perspectives in animal models of human hepatitis A virus

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Following HAV infection, humans, non‐human primates, and Ifnar1−/− mice develop characteristic manifestations of hepatitis A, including fecal viral shedding, elevated serum ALT levels, and inflammatory cell infiltration in the liver. In contrast, HAV‐infected human liver chimeric mice exhibit fecal viral shedding but do not develop clinical features of
