Lentivirus-mediated interleukin-1β (IL-1β) knock-down in the hippocampus alleviates lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced memory deficits and anxiety- and depression-like behaviors in mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2017
Recent evidence has suggested that peripheral inflammatory responses induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) play an important role in neuropsychiatric dysfunction in rodents.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Interleukin-1β secretion in hippocampal sclerosis patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy

open access: yesNeurology International, 2013
Mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (MTLE-HS) is a common medically intractable epilepsy syndrome. Although pathogenesis of HS still remains highly controversial, genetics may play a role as a predisposing factor.

Microglia-derived IL-1β promotes chemokine expression by Müller cells and RPE in focal retinal degeneration

open access: yesMolecular Neurodegeneration, 2017
BackgroundChemokine signalling is required for the homing of leukocytes during retinal inflammation, and is associated with pathogenesis of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Serum IL-1β levels and its influencing factors in patients with postherpetic neuralgia

open access: yesPifu-xingbing zhenliaoxue zazhi, 2019
Objective: To investigate the serum IL-1β levels and its influencing factors in patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). Methods: A total of 145 patients with PHN and 40 healthy controls were enrolled in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2019.

How BRCA1 deficiency affects emergency granulopoeisis in cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BRCA1 mutation carriers are predisposed to breast and ovarian cancer. Chemotherapy is a common treatment used in breast cancer patients. However, chemotherapy can cause damage to bone marrow.
