Recombinant subunit vaccines against Neospora caninum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The intracellular protozoan parasite Neospora caninum is an important cause of bovine abortion and congenital infection in many countries. Currently there is no effective control method available, and development of a vaccine has been suggested as a ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Suppression of multiple mouse models of refractory malignancies by reprogramming IL-18 ligand-receptor interaction

open access: yesNature Communications
Achieving a cure is an urgent need for patients with advanced solid tumors. Here, we discover that oncolytic virus (OV) infection enhances IL-18 receptor expression but fails to increase IL-18 ligand expression.

Durable antitumor response via an oncolytic virus encoding decoy-resistant IL-18

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer
Background Interleukin-18 (IL-18), or interferon (IFN)-γ-inducing factor, potentiates T helper 1 and natural killer cell activation as well as CD8+ T-cell proliferation.

The Evaluation of Plasma and Leukocytic IL-37 Expression in Early Inflammation in Patients with Acute ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction after PCI

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2015
Objective. Acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (ASTEMI) is accompanied by increased expression of inflammation and decreased expression of anti-inflammation.

Development of 'Redox Arrays' for identifying novel glutathionylated proteins in the secretome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Proteomics techniques for analysing the redox status of individual proteins in complex mixtures tend to identify the same proteins due to their high abundance.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Enhanced Expression of IL-18 and IL-18BP in Plasma of Patients with Eczema: Altered Expression of IL-18BP and IL-18 Receptor on Mast Cells

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2017
IL-18 has been found to be associated with eczema. However, little is known of the role of IL-18 binding protein (BP) and IL-18 receptor (R) in eczema.

Modulation of TGF-beta signaling by proinflammatory cytokines in articular chondrocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
OBJECTIVE: The normal structure and function of articular cartilage are the result of a precisely balanced interaction between anabolic and catabolic processes.
