The IL-2/IL-2 receptor system: A current overview
Cell, 1993Tadatsugu Taniguchi and Yasuhiro Mlnami Institute for Molecular and Cellular Biology Osaka University Yamadaoka 1-3, Suita-shi Osaka 565 Japan The discovery and molecular characterization of interleu- kin-2 (IL-2) has had a considerable impact on basic and clinical immunology(Morgan et al., 1976; Taniguchi et al., 1963; Rosenberg et al., 1965).

17-β-ESTRADIOL SUPPRESSES IL-2 AND IL-2 RECEPTOR
Cytokine, 2001Interleukin-2 (IL-2) plays an important role in adaptive immune responses. These responses differ between females and males and may be due to the sex steroid estrogen. In this investigation we show that estrogen suppresses IL-2 production from activated peripheral blood T cells and CD4+ T cell lines at the transcriptional level.

IL-2/anti-IL-2 mAb immunocomplexes were described to have dramatically higher activity than free IL-2 in vivo. We designed protein chimera consisting of IL-2 linked to light chain of anti-IL-2 mAb S4B6 through flexible oligopeptide spacer (Gly(4)Ser)(3).

Cytokine & Growth Factor Reviews, 2002
A decade after the first description of IL-2-deficient mice, the redundancy of IL-2 as a T cell growth factor is well accepted and the focus of research has shifted to the unexpected multiorgan autoimmunity and inflammation observed in mice lacking components of the IL-2/IL-2R system.

Natural antibodies to human interleukin-2 are present in sera of patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus and also, at a lower titre, in sera of healthy individuals. These antibodies could be purified by affinity-chromatography. Purified human anti-hIL-2 antibodies can interfere with lymphocyte proliferation both in the lymphokine activated ...

Critical Reviews™ in Immunology, 1998
In this review we discuss several molecules that are attractive candidates as transducing molecules involved in signaling processes. IL-2 receptor signaling is a complex process involving a large number of molecules: Ras, Rho, PI3 kinase, PKC, Akt, transcription factors NF-AT, and NF-kappaB and some target genes such as bcl-2, c-myc, c-jun and c-fos ...
