A panoramic review of IL-6: Structure, pathophysiological roles and inhibitors.
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2020Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine. Its deregulation is associated with chronic inflammation, and multifactorial auto-immune disorders. It mediates its biological roles through a hexameric complex composed of IL-6 itself, its

IL-6 as a major regulator of MDSC activity and possible target for cancer immunotherapy.
Cellular Immunology, 2020Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are generated during tumor progression and suppress the anti-tumor functions of T and natural killer (NK) cells.

Analysis of interleukin 6 (IL-6)/IL-6 receptor system using monoclonal anti-IL-6 antibodies
Molecular Immunology, 1991To investigate the IL-6/IL-6 receptor system, we obtained five murine monoclonal antibodies against human IL-6, which neutralize its biological activity. We classified them into two groups (Type I mAb and Type II mAb) according to the epitopes they recognized. These two types of antibodies showed no difference in the manner in which they neutralized IL-

TNF-α and IL-6: the link between immune and bone system.
Current Drug Targets, 2020Osteoimmunology is a new subject which focuses on the communication between the immune and the skeletal systems. Both the immune system and bone communicate with each other.

Autism is a severe neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in social interaction, deficits in verbal and non-verbal communication, and repetitive behavior and restricted interests. Emerging evidence suggests that aberrant neuroimmune responses may contribute to phenotypic deficits and could be appropriate targets for pharmacologic ...

IL-6 receptor expression and IL-6 effects change during osteoblast differentiation
Cytokine, 2008Studies of the effects of interleukin-6 on osteoblasts have yielded conflicting results. In several earlier in vitro studies it has been stated that IL-6 has no effects on osteoblasts unless soluble IL-6 receptor is added. These results are contradictory to the fact that IL-6 receptors are expressed in osteoblasts in vivo.
