Restriction of Individual Branched‐Chain Amino Acids has Distinct Effects on the Development and Progression of Alzheimer's Disease in 3xTg Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein restriction (PR) slows Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice, and other benefits of PR are due to decreased branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs). We show that restricting any BCAA has benefits, with sex‐ and BCAA‐specific impacts on pathology, molecular signaling, and cognition.

The ITGB2‐COPS3‐SOX2 Axis and SOX2 Liquid‐Liquid Phase Separation: Dual Mechanisms Governing Osteosarcoma Stemness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma stemness is driven by the ITGB2‐COPS3‐SOX2 signaling axis. This study reveals that nuclear COPS3 stabilizes SOX2, which in turn undergoes liquid‐liquid phase separation to promote stemness. Based on this mechanism, a novel COPS3 inhibitor, Z‐5891, was developed, effectively suppressing tumor growth and stemness in vivo, offering a ...

Pattern of presentation and surgical management of penile fractures in a semi-urban African teaching hospital: Case reports and literature review

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Urology, 2018
Introduction: Penile fracture is relatively rare and also under-reported in our environment. There seem to be a gradual change in this pattern however, as we managed six patients over a two-year period.

Bioorthogonal Fluorogenic Reporters for Noninvasive Imaging and Urinalysis of Immunotherapeutic Response in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reported renal‐clearable bio‐orthogonal near‐infrared fluorogenic probes (BGRs) that specifically imaging and urinalysis of granzyme B for dynamic evaluation of RCC immunotherapy. BGRs not only differentiate immunotherapeutic responses in orthotopic RCC mice, but also enable sensitive optical urinalysis of granzyme B in clinical specimens ...

The lichen flora of the Chagos Archipelago : including a comparison with other island and coastal tropical floras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The 1996 Chagos Expedition provided the first opportunity to study the archipelago’s lichen flora. Seventeen of the 55 islands were ecologically investigated, some in more detail than others, and lists and representative collections of lichens have been ...

Molecular modeling of an antigenic complex between a viral peptide and a class I major histocompatibility glycoprotein [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Computer simulation of the conformations of short antigenic peptides (&lo residues) either free or bound to their receptor, the major histocompatibility complex (MHC)- encoded glycoprotein H-2 Ld, was employed to explain experimentally determined ...

Botanical and Cytological Studies of Monodora tenuifolia Benth.

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2014
This study investigated branching pattern, ecology of occurrence, palynology, cytology and phenology of Monodora tenuifolia using standard techniques. The branching pattern determines the shape of the canopy, which may be irregular when growing in the ...
