Apparent metabolizable energy concentration and ileal amino acid digestibility in cereal grains fed to broiler chickens [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience
Objective This study aimed to determine apparent metabolizable energy concentrations and ileal amino acid (AA) digestibility in cereal grains and to compare those metabolizable energy values between the total collection and index methods for 21-day-old ...

The Energetic Significance of Cooking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
While cooking has long been argued to improve the diet, the nature of the improvement has not been well defined. As a result, the evolutionary significance of cooking has variously been proposed as being substantial or relatively trivial.

Effects of Dietary Protein Level on Growth Performance, Serum Biochemistry, Intestinal Morphology, and Intestinal Microbiota in Ningxiang Finishing Pigs

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 120-131, February 2026.
A low‐protein (LP) diet maintained growth performance while enhancing colonic microbiota composition and nitrogen utilization in Ningxiang finishing pigs. These findings enhance our understanding of protein nutrition in indigenous fat‐type pig breeds and provide a theoretical foundation for optimizing dietary formulations in Ningxiang pigs.

Effect of citric acid and microbial phytase enzyme on ileal digestibility of some nutrients in broiler chicks fed corn-soybean meal diets

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2012
A total of 270 Ross 308 male broilers were used in a randomized complete block design for a period of five weeks. The experiment included nine treatments, three replicates with 10 birds in each replicate of 3×3 factorial design.

Microbial‐Immune Interplay in CNS Autoimmune Diseases: Lessons from Animal Models and Clinical Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mechanism of action of the intestinal microbiota on CNS autoimmune diseases. Environmental factors shape gut microbiota composition; dysbiosis alters microbial metabolites and antigenic signals. These modulate innate and adaptive immunity, affect barrier integrity, and influence CNS‐resident cells such as microglia and astrocytes, contributing to ...

Basal diet and indigestible marker influence apparent digestibilities of nitrogen and amino acids of cottonseed meal and soybean meal in pigs

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2019
This study was to determine the apparent ileal nitrogen (N) and amino acid digestibilities of cottonseed meal (CSM) and soybean meal (SBM) in simple carbohydrate-based and more complex wheat-based diets. Twenty five Large White × Landrace boars (40.9 kg)

Bioefficacy of a mono-component protease in the diets of pigs and poultry: a meta-analysis of effect on ileal amino acid digestibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A meta-analysis of the effect of a mono-component bacterial protease (RONOZYME® ProAct) on the apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in poultry and swine diets was conducted to examine functional patterns, mean effects and variability of response ...

Feeding weaned piglets and growing-finishing pigs with diets based on mainly home-grown organic feedstuffs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In 2000, EU regulations for organic animal production set new guidelines for organic pig feeding requiring that this be based on mainly home-grown organic feedstuffs.
