Overcoming primary and acquired resistance to anti-PD-L1 therapy by induction and activation of tumor-residing cDC1s

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Strategies to increase T cell infiltration within the tumor microenvironment could improve response to immune checkpoint blockade. Here the authors show that a combinatorial regimen based on Flt3L, radiotherapy, and TLR3/CD40 stimulation promotes ...

The Cumulative Distribution Transform and Linear Pattern Classification

open access: yes, 2017
Discriminating data classes emanating from sensors is an important problem with many applications in science and technology. We describe a new transform for pattern identification that interprets patterns as probability density functions, and has special

Investigating the role of Hedgehog/GLI1 signaling in glioblastoma cell response to temozolomide. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Resistance to chemotherapy substantially hinders successful glioblastoma (GBM) treatment, contributing to an almost 100% mortality rate. Resistance to the frontline chemotherapy, temozolomide (TMZ), arises from numerous signaling pathways that are ...

Anticancer Activities of Meroterpenoids Isolated from the Brown Alga Cystoseira usneoides against the Human Colon Cancer Cells HT-29 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common types of cancers and a leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The current treatment for CRC mainly involves surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. However, due to the side effects and the emergence of

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles as selective killers of proliferating cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: It has recently been demonstrated that zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) induce death of cancerous cells whilst having no cytotoxic effect on normal cells.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Immune signatures associated with improved progression-free and overall survival for myeloma patients treated with AHSCT

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2017
: Multiple therapeutic options exist for multiple myeloma (MM), including autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT). Measurement of minimal residual disease (MRD) and immune reconstitution is rapidly becoming an integral part of the care

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...
