Communication and Identity: An Approximation to the Study of Consumption [PDF]

open access: yesUniversitas Humanística, 2007
To talk about consumer culture is to question the role that capitalist exchange, objects and their dynamics play in today’s world. To understand consumption as an action of meaning and as a problem of anthropological concern brings about valuable data ...

Liouville’s imaginary shadow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2012
Abstract $ \mathcal{N}=1 $ super Liouville field theory is one of the simplest non-rational conformal field theories. It possesses various important extensions and interesting applications, e.g. to the AGT relation with 4D gauge theory or the construction of the OSP(1|2) WZW model.

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Exploring the Futures of Datafied Welfare State Education: Thematic Analysis of Sociotechnical Imaginaries

open access: yesSocial Inclusion
Technological developments have inspired many scholars and other professionals to envision the possibilities that digital data technologies bring to the future of education. However, some aspects of this so‐called datafication may conflict with the local

Bounds and algorithms for the K-Bessel function of imaginary order [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Using the paths of steepest descent, we prove precise bounds with numerical implied constants for the modified Bessel function of imaginary order and its first two derivatives with respect to the order.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

L’immaginario politico delle memorie: Brasile 1964-1985 [PDF]

open access: yesDiacronie. Studi di Storia Contemporanea, 2016
From the numerous forms of symbolic good produced in Brazil and pertaining to the period of the dictatorship, itself a stimulus for political commemoration and constant subject of debate, we have chosen to concentrate on the analysis of books, considered

Artin L-Functions for Abelian Extensions of Imaginary Quadratic Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Let F be an abelian extension of an imaginary quadratic field K with Galois group G. We form the Galois-equivariant L-function of the motive h(Spec F)(j) where the Tate twists j are negative integers.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
