Olive oil Ameliorates renal Ischemia-reperfusion-mediated hepatic and renal changes in stressed rats

open access: yesTraditional Medicine and Modern Medicine
Background: Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) does not only affect kidneys, but also affects remote organs especially the liver. Stress may lead to further progression of renal and hepatic insults.

The effect of immobilization and surgery stress on serum ghrelin level, body weight, and food consumption in male rats [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه ابن سینا, 2015
Background: In our daily life, we encounter with various types of stress. These stresses result to different autonomic, hormonal, and behavioral responses. One of the hormones that its secretion is affected by stress is called ghrelin.

Bridging Polymer Brushes and Coatings Through Ultra‐Thick Growth by Surface‐Initiated Photoiniferter Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐initiated photoiniferter‐mediated polymerization (SI‐PIMP) enables the controlled growth of UHMW polymer brushes with multi‐micrometer thicknesses, bridging conventional brushes and bulk‐like coatings. UHMW brushes are synthesized through a controlled/living process; they provide low friction and enhanced wear resistance under aqueous ...

Herbs Extracts in the Treatment and Prevention of Experimental Metabolic Disorders: Synergistic Hypoglycemic Activity of Ethanol Extracts of Hypericum alpestre and Rumex obtusifolius

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
Hyperglycemia is a metabolic condition characterized by high blood glucose level due to the disturbances of carbohydrate, lipids and protein metabolism. These disorders lead to impaired of insulin secretion and β-cell dysfunction.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Protective effect of liqued extract of Aloe vera on serum creatine kinase activity in male rats exposed to acute and chronic immobilization stress

open access: yesمجله دانشگاه علوم پزشکی گرگان, 2013
Background and Objective: Immobilization stress has a variety of effects on the enzymes activity. This study was conducted to determine the protective effect of Aloe vera extract on the serum level of creatine kinase enzyme in male rates exposed to acute

Mineral Deposition From Liquid Precursors Triggered by Complementary Polyelectrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte additives can delay or prevent crystal nucleation in supersaturated solutions of insoluble mineral salts such as calcium carbonate. This work reports that adding a second, oppositely‐charged polyelectrolyte leads to immediate mineral crystallization from such metastable solutions.

Enzyme immobilization on hydroxyapatite: a case study

open access: yes, 2023
Enzymes are efficient biocatalysts which operate under mild conditions with high selectivity, low toxicity and negligible by-product. These characteristics make them important tools in making chemical processes greener.

Charge‐Tunable Coacervate Micelles for Separator Engineering in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A separator engineering strategy based on charge‐tunable complex coacervate core micelles (C3Ms) is presented to form an ion‐selective layer regulating polysulfide transport in Li–S batteries. The micelles enable uniform adsorption onto commercial polypropylene separators and infiltration throughout the internal pore network, suppressing polysulfide ...
