DNA alteration‐based classification of uveal melanoma gives better prognostic stratification than immune infiltration, which has a neutral effect in high‐risk group

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2019
Background In uveal melanomas, immune infiltration is a marker of poor prognosis. This work intended to decipher the biological characteristics of intra‐tumor immune population, compare it to other established biomarkers and to patients' outcome. Methods

Classification of acute myeloid leukemia based on multi‐omics and prognosis prediction value

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Unsupervised AML Multi‐Omics Classification System (UAMOCS) integrates genomic, methylation, and transcriptomic data to categorize AML patients into three subtypes (UAMOCS1‐3). This classification reveals clinical relevance, highlighting immune and chromosomal characteristics, prognosis, and therapeutic vulnerabilities.

B Cells Regulate Neutrophilia during Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection and BCG Vaccination by Modulating the Interleukin-17 Response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have previously demonstrated that B cells can shape the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, including the level of neutrophil infiltration and granulomatous inflammation at the site of infection. The present study examined the mechanisms by

CCR2+ migratory macrophages with M1 status are the early-responders in the cornea of HSV-1 infected mice.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Complex interactions between HSV-1 and infiltrating immune cells play important roles in establishing localized, acute virus replication as well as chronic latent infection. The extent and duration of initial virus replication are the key determinants of

Transcriptome Deconvolution of Heterogeneous Tumor Samples with Immune Infiltration [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2017
AbstractTranscriptomic deconvolution in cancer and other heterogeneous tissues remains challenging. Available methods lack the ability to estimate both component-specific proportions and expression profiles for individual samples. We presentDeMixT, a new tool to deconvolve high dimensional data from mixtures of more than two components.DeMixTimplements

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Neutralization of chemokines RANTES and MIG increases virus antigen expression and spinal cord pathology during Theiler's virus infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The role of chemokines during some viral infections is unpredictable because the inflammatory response regulated by these molecules can have two, contrasting effects-viral immunity and immunopathologic injury to host tissues.

The involvement of T regulatory lymphocytes in a cohort of lupus nephritis patients: a pilot study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
T regulator lymphocytes (Tregs) play a key role in the maintenance of immune tolerance and in the development of autoimmune diseases. Expression of Foxp3 is specific for Tregs, and can be used for the identification of these cells.

ACE2 correlated with immune infiltration serves as a prognostic biomarker in endometrial carcinoma and renal papillary cell carcinoma: implication for COVID-19

open access: yesAging, 2020
Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a member of the renin-angiotension system, however, the correlation between ACE2 and prognosis in UCEC (Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma) and KIRP (Kidney Renal Papillary Cell Carcinoma) is not clear.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
