Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...

Short peptide perturbs spermatogenesis via immune microenvironment dysregulation and mitochondrial imbalance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In the blood–testis barrier, occludin is crucial for tight junctions. This study demonstrates that occludin‐targeting short peptides disrupt junction integrity, inducing immune cell infiltration, tumor necrosis factor‐α/interleukin‐6 secretion and mitochondrial dysfunction, ultimately triggering apoptosis.

Aging‐Driven Blood–Brain Barrier Dysfunction and Its Impact on CNS Cancer Susceptibility: A Comprehensive Narrative Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Aging weakens the blood–brain barrier (BBB), increasing susceptibility to CNS cancers and complicating treatment. This review examines BBB deterioration, its impact on drug delivery, and potential interventions like targeting neuroinflammation and advanced therapies.

Circulating IL6 is involved in the infiltration of M2 macrophages and CD8+ T cells

open access: yesScientific Reports
To elucidate the relationship between circulating cytokines and the prognosis of microsatellite-stable(MSS) colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, we examined the correlation between circulating cytokine levels and tumor immune infiltration microenvironment ...

A hybrid discrete-continuum modelling approach for the interactions of the immune system with oncolytic viral infections [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Oncolytic virotherapy, utilizing genetically modified viruses to combat cancer and trigger anti-cancer immune responses, has garnered significant attention in recent years. In our previous work arXiv:2305.12386, we developed a stochastic agent-based model elucidating the spatial dynamics of infected and uninfected cells within solid tumours.

A PANoptosis‐Based Signature for Survival and Immune Predication in Glioblastoma Multiforme

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PANoptosis is a concept of total cell death characterized by pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis. We aimed to explore the clinical significance of PANoptosis‐related genes (PARGs) in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Methods Expression profiles of GBM were downloaded from the XENA database as a training dataset to construct a ...
