In vitro comparison of antioxidant, cytotoxic, and antibacterial (against Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans) effects of Citrus reticulata, Olea europaea extracts, and essential oils

open access: yesDental Research Journal
Background: This study compared the antioxidant, cytotoxic, and antibacterial effects of Citrus reticulata (C. reticulata) peel and Olea europaea (O. europaea) leaf hydroalcoholic extracts and essential oils. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study,

Methotrexate-loaded multifunctional nanoparticles with near-infrared irradiation for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2020
Backgrounds Despite the advances of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) therapeutics, several patients do not receive adequate treatment due to the toxicity and/or insufficient response of drugs.

Colostrum and Immunologic Competence

open access: yes, 1967
The ability of a subject to respond to antigenic stimulation with the production of antibodies or increased sensitivity to the antigen (hypersensitivity) has been called "immunologic competence".

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Recapitulation of methotrexate hepatotoxicity with induced pluripotent stem cell-derived hepatocytes from patients with rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2018
Background Methotrexate (MTX) is widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The drug is cost-effective, but sometimes causes hepatotoxicity, requiring a physician’s attention.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

The Immunology of Glaucoma

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
The presence of specific antibodies and T cells that are specific in patients with glaucoma supports the idea that the immune system may play an important role in the initiation and/or sustainment of glaucomatous optic neuropathy, at least in some patients.

Immunologic Nursing

open access: yes, 1966
If immunology is one of the basic sciences from which the nurse draws principles upon which to make judgments, then the concepts from current immunologic research are applicable to nursing ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Immunologic and nonimmunologic responsiveness in ragweed-sensitized dogs

open access: yes, 1986
The relationship between airway responsiveness to inhaled antigen and histamine, immunologic release of lung histamine, immunologic responsiveness of skin, and specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies were examined in 11 inbred allergic dogs immunized
