Transplant Immunology, 2002
HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or statins, are effective lipid lowering agents, extensively used in medical practice. Statins have never been shown to be involved in the immune response, although few clinical reports have suggested a better outcome of cardiac transplantation in patients under pravastatin therapy.

Abstract: The immune system is susceptible to a variety of stresses. Recent work in neuroimmunology has begun to define how mood alteration, stress, the seasons, and daily rhythms can have a profound effect on immune response through hormonal modifications. Central to these factors may be light through an eye‐brain hormonal modulation.

Prolactin and immunomodulation
The American Journal of Medicine, 1993To review the recent exploration of the role of prolactin in immune function.Studies published that were identified through a MEDLINE search as well as through the bibliographies of those articles enumerated. Both humoral and cell-mediated immunity are compromised in hypophysectomized rats. The reintroduction of prolactin to these animals restores their

Corticosteroids as Immunomodulators
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1993Corticosteroids are potent anti-inflammatory and anti-immunologic modulators. They interact with cellular receptors, which eventually leads to modification of DNA transcription. These changes sometimes inhibit cell function and sometimes increase production of cell products.

Estrogen as an immunomodulator
Clinical Immunology, 2004Estrogen's role in the sex differences observed in autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis have remained unclear. Complicating the understanding of the immunomodulatory effects of estrogen are (1) the effects of estrogen on multiple components of the immune response; (2) its varied effects on different ...

Immunomodulation and immunodeficiency
Veterinary Dermatology, 2004Abstract This article briefly reviews the concepts of immunodeficiency and immunomodulation as they relate to selected skin diseases in the dog and cat. Immunodeficiency states are uncommon and may be associated with a subnormal or down‐regulated immune system, including humoral deficiencies, such as IgA, and abnormal lymphocyte or neutrophil function.
