Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Temperature-dependent mechanical behavior in a novel hierarchical B2-strengthened high entropy alloy: Microscopic deformation mechanism and yield strength prediction

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Integration of twinning and hierarchical microstructure into a face-centered cubic (FCC) matrix is a novel research approach for advancing high-temperature alloys, enhancing strength without the need for costly heavy elements.

High temperature compounds for turbine vanes [PDF]

open access: yes
Fabrication and microstructure control studies were conducted on SiC, Si3N and composites based on Si3N. Charpy mode impact testing to 2400 F established that Si3N4/Mo composites have excellent potential.

Impact absorbing blade mounts for variable pitch blades [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A variable pitch blade and blade mount are reported that are suitable for propellers, fans and the like and which have improved impact resistance. Composite fan blades and blade mounting arrangements permit the blades to pivot relative to a turbine hub ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

The association between muscle strength and activity limitations in patients with the hypermobility type of Ehlers–Danlos syndrome : the impact of proprioception [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: The patients diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility Type (EDS-HT) are characterized by pain, proprioceptive inacuity, muscle weakness, potentially leading to activity limitations.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Study on properties of composites reinforced by heat treated glass fibres simulating thermal recycling conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the present study, commercial chopped glass fibres were heat treated at 300°C, 450°C, 500°C and 600°C to imitate a composite thermal recycling process.
