Ambiguous Bodies, Biopower and the Ideologies of Science Fiction [PDF]
Contemporary Hollywood film narrates the fear of monstrous science; attending to the modulations of medicine, capital and the body. The filmic body is employed to illustrate the power of the new biotechnologies to create and sustain life and the new ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Optimal number of imperfect repairs for deteriorating systems [PDF]
A periodic maintenance policy through either an imperfect repair or replacement is proposed for a repairable system. It is assumed that the system is subject to an inverse Gaussian degradation process.

We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Considering that the entire electric multiple unit (EMU) needs to be withdrawn from service for carrying out preventive maintenance (PM) of the critical equipment, leading to an increase to downtime loss, the concept of replacement repair is proposed in ...

Estimation of component redundancy in optimal age maintenance [PDF]
The classical Optimal Age-Replacement defines the maintenance strategy based on the equipment failure consequences. For severe consequences an early equipment replacement is recommended. For minor consequences the repair after failure is proposed.

Repair is a type of maintenance carried out on an item after it fails. A failure may occur any time, hence the times to repair cannot be pre-specified. Methods used to model times to failures are normally stochastic processes such as the renewal process and the homogeneous Poisson process, depending on the effectiveness of a repair.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Imperfect Preventive Maintenance Model Study Based On Reliability Limitation
Effective maintenance is crucial for equipment performance in industry. Imperfect maintenance conform to actual failure process. Taking the dynamic preventive maintenance cost into account, the preventive maintenance model was constructed by using age ...
