Balloon expandable stents for coarctation of the aorta : review of current status and technical considerations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Balloon expandable stents have been used to manage coarctation of the aorta in selected patients with very encouraging results. After the successful use of the Palmaz stents in these lesions newer stents as well as modifications of the Palmaz stents ...

Cell lineage specific distribution of H3K27 trimethylation accumulation in an in vitro model for human implantation

open access: yes, 2012
Female mammals inactivate one of their two X-chromosomes to compensate for the difference in gene-dosage with males that have just one X-chromosome. X-chromosome inactivation is initiated by the expression of the non-coding RNA Xist, which coats the X ...

Reconfigurable Logic‐in‐Memory Operations Enabled by Triple‐Gated Feedback Field‐Effect Transistors for Area‐Efficient Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory cell composed of triple‐gated feedback field‐effect transistors implements multiple combinational logic functions within a single configuration. By utilizing program gates as dynamic input terminals, the proposed cell performs full adder, full subtractor, 2‐to‐1 multiplexer, and 4‐to‐2 encoder operations without ...

FiltekTM Silorane and FiltekTM Supreme XT resins: tissue reaction after subcutaneous implantation in isogenic mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to evaluate the tissue compatibility of a silorane-based resin system (FiltekTM Silorane) and a methacrylatebased nanoparticle resin (FiltekTM Supreme XT) after implantation in the subcutaneous connective tissue of isogenic ...

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Bioconduit subannular implantation for aortic root endocarditis after previous cardiac surgery: Results from two Italian centers

open access: yes, 2020
Objectives Infective endocarditis (IE) with extensive peri-annular abscesses and aortic root involvement is a life-threatening disease. Aortic root replacement with a valved conduit is the most common intervention in this setting and represents a serious

Improved therapeutic consistency and efficacy of CD317+ MSCs through stabilizing TSG6 by PTX3

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Previously, we have demonstrated that the batch variations of human platelet lysate (conventional MSC expansion medium) induce MSC heterogeneity and therapeutic inconsistency.
