What is public trust in national electronic health record systems? A scoping review of qualitative research studies from 1995 to 2021

open access: yesDigital Health
Objective Public trust in national electronic health record systems is essential for the successful implementation within a healthcare system. Research investigating public trust in electronic health records is limited, leading to a lack of conceptual ...

The goldilocks effect: the rhythms and pace of hospital life

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2018
Background While we have made gains in understanding cultures in hospitals and their effects on outcomes of care, little work has investigated how the pace of work in hospitals is associated with staff satisfaction and patient outcomes.

The Importance of Teacher Self-efficacy in the Implementation of a Middle and High School Science Writing Initiative [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This study focuses on the experiences of two science teachers who worked to implement a writing-focused, science literacy project in their classrooms. More specifically, I uncover the ways these teachers’ experiences differed and how these differences ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Quantifying photonic high-dimensional entanglement

open access: yes, 2017
High-dimensional entanglement offers promising perspectives in quantum information science. In practice, however, the main challenge is to devise efficient methods to characterize high-dimensional entanglement, based on the available experimental data ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Exchanging Conflict Resolution in an Adaptable Implementation of ACT-R

open access: yes, 2014
In computational cognitive science, the cognitive architecture ACT-R is very popular. It describes a model of cognition that is amenable to computer implementation, paving the way for computational psychology. Its underlying psychological theory has been

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Health system performance on greenhouse gas emissions, climate change and development status in 38 OECD countries

open access: yesScientific Reports
Health systems must solve two climate-related problems simultaneously: mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to additional patient loads associated with climate-induced demands for care from weather sequalae and vector-borne diseases.

Computational sense: the role of technology in the education of digital librarians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The rapid progress of digital library technology from research to implementation has created a force for change in the curricula of library schools. The education of future librarians has always had to adapt to new technologies but the pace, complexity ...
