Cytological diagnosis of breast tumours by the imprint method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pathology, 1965
Tumour imprints were made from 311 breast tumours at the time of frozen section. Rapid and permanent staining methods were employed and the accuracy of diagnosis was compared with that obtained from frozen and paraffin sections. Two false positives (0·65%) and 16 false negatives (5·15%) were found in the imprint group compared with no false positives ...

Duodenal mucinous adenocarcinoma in a dog: Correlation between cytology, histopathology and proliferation index

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract An 8‐year‐old female Schnauzer presented with chronic postprandial vomiting. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a thickened duodenal segment with loss of wall layering and decreased mesenteric reactivity. Exploratory laparotomy and segmental duodenectomy were performed on the patient.

A Literature Review of the Diagnostic Utility of Touch Imprint Cytology in Lymph Node Lesions

open access: yesJournal of the Scientific Society
Lymph nodes are encapsulated bean shaped structures, which function in mechanical filtration of lymph, along with recognition and processing of antigens. Pathology of the lymph node can be either inflammatory or neoplastic.

Validation of Digital Cytology for Primary Diagnosis Across a Range of Specimen Types

open access: yesCytopathology, Volume 37, Issue 3, Page 222-231, May 2026.
This single‐centre validation study demonstrated strong diagnostic concordance between high‐resolution whole‐slide imaging and traditional light microscopy across diverse cytology specimen types. Even with limited prior experience, pathologists found digital cytology feasible and acceptable for diagnostic use.

The Homeobox Genes: Classification, Regulation, Biological Functions, and Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Overview of the homeobox gene superfamily and its pathophysiological roles. The homeobox superfamily comprises several major classes, including ANTP, PRD, TALE, LIM, POU, and others. Among these, the HOX clusters (A–D) play critical roles in embryonic development specifically in conferring cellular identity, regulating morphogenesis, and guiding axial ...

Imprint cytology: A diagnostic aid in interpretation of upper gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsies

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Endoscopy, 2014
Context: Although major advances have occurred in the cytological diagnosis of various organ pathologies, gastrointestinal (GI) cytology has not gained popularity and is only occasionally practiced in the form of brushings and washings.

Early life stress and disruption of the ageing trajectory in female rats: Insights into the origins and mechanisms underlying the risk of hypertension

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 4, Page 1781-1795, 1 April 2026.
Abstract Menopause increases the risk of hypertension in women, yet the factors contributing to this important change remain unclear. Because early life stress has persistent and sex‐specific consequences on health, we hypothesized that ageing reveals the latent effects of neonatal maternal separation (NMS) on cardiovascular homeostasis in female rats.

Comparison of plasma cell bone marrow counts by different methods in patients diagnosed with plasma cell disorders

open access: yesHematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy
Introduction: Plasma cell quantification in bone marrow is important for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of plasma cell diseases. It can be performed by several methods such as aspiration, imprint and flow cytometry, and biopsy.

Left Gluteal and Perianal Eumycetoma Lesion Extending Into the Left Greater Sciatic Foramen, Pelvic Cavity to the External Anal Sphincter

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Mycetoma is a chronic subcutaneous infection that primarily affects the lower extremities, although atypical anatomical presentations are possible. We describe a Sudanese farmer, age 31, who developed a left gluteal eumycetoma due to Madurella mycetomatis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed widespread deep tissue involvement that extended
