Visualizing intestines for diagnostic assistance of ileus based on intestinal region segmentation from 3D CT images [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Medical Imaging 2020, 11314-109, 2020
This paper presents a visualization method of intestine (the small and large intestines) regions and their stenosed parts caused by ileus from CT volumes. Since it is difficult for non-expert clinicians to find stenosed parts, the intestine and its stenosed parts should be visualized intuitively.

Postprandial morphological response of the intestinal epithelium of the Burmese python (Python molurus) [PDF]

open access: yesComp Biochem Physiol A Mol Integr Physiol 141 (2005) 280-291, 2006
The postprandial morphological changes of the intestinal epithelium of Burmese pythons were examined using fasting pythons and at eight time points after feeding. In fasting pythons, tightly packed enterocytes possess very short microvilli and are arranged in a pseudostratified fashion.

Selective evaluation of high density lipoprotein from mouse small intestine by an in situ perfusion technique [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
The small intestine (SI) is the second-greatest source of HDL in mice. However, the selective evaluation of SI-derived HDL (SI-HDL) has been difficult because even the origin of HDL obtained in vivo from the intestinal lymph duct of anesthetized rodents is doubtful.

Multi-delay arterial spin-labeled perfusion estimation with biophysics simulation and deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Purpose: To develop biophysics-based method for estimating perfusion Q from arterial spin labeling (ASL) images using deep learning. Methods: A 3D U-Net (QTMnet) was trained to estimate perfusion from 4D tracer propagation images. The network was trained and tested on simulated 4D tracer concentration data based on artificial vasculature structure ...

Impact of perfusion ROI detection to the quality of CBV perfusion map [PDF]

open access: yesTechnology Audit and Production Reserves. - 2019. - V. 5, N. 2 (49). - P.4-7, 2019
The object of research in this study is quality of CBV perfusion map, considering detection of perfusion ROI as a key component in processing of dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance images of a human head. CBV map is generally accepted to be the best among others to evaluate location and size of stroke lesions and angiogenesis of brain ...

Logistics and technique for combined hepatic-intestinal retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
During a 13-month period, en bloc liver-small bowel cadaveric grafts were procured for seven children and one adult. All liver grafts functioned immediately, and all but one of the recipient patients recovered.

Noise and dose reduction in CT brain perfusion acquisition by projecting time attenuation curves onto lower dimensional spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
CT perfusion imaging (CTP) plays an important role in decision making for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion. Since the CT perfusion scan time is approximately one minute, the patient is exposed to a non-negligible dose of ionizing radiation.

Deep Transformers for Fast Small Intestine Grounding in Capsule Endoscope Video [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Capsule endoscopy is an evolutional technique for examining and diagnosing intractable gastrointestinal diseases. Because of the huge amount of data, analyzing capsule endoscope videos is very time-consuming and labor-intensive for gastrointestinal medicalists.

Antihyperglycemic potential of the Lavandula stoechas aqueous extract via inhibition of digestive enzymes and reduction of intestinal glucose absorption

open access: yesJournal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, 2023
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a widespread metabolic disorder affecting global populations. Lavandula stoechas from Moroccan traditional medicine is used for its potential anti-diabetic effects.
