Immunological behavior of in vitro digested egg‐white lysozyme

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2013
ScopeBesides its antimicrobial properties, lysozyme (LYS) is one of the major allergens from hen egg. This paper addresses the identification of the peptides produced upon in vitro gastrointestinal digestion of LYS, together with their IgE‐binding and biological activity as a contribution to the understanding of what makes it a relevant allergen ...

Digestibility of resistant starch containing preparations using two in vitro models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Resistant starch (RS) is known for potential health benefits in the human colon. To investigate these positive effects it is important to be able to predict the amount, and the structure of starch reaching the large intestine.

Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Comparison of 2-pool and 3-pool digestion kinetic model predictions of neutral detergent fiber digestibility of forages from commercially available data

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Sizes and rates of potentially digestible (B) and undegradable (C) pools of amylase-treated neutral detergent fiber (aNDF) are used to predict ruminal aNDF digestibility (raNDFD%) in widely used dairy cattle diet formulation programs.

Screening for the optimal siRNA targeting a novel gene (HA117) and construction and evaluation of a derivative recombinant adenovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We found a novel gene named as HA117 in our previous research. At this study, we screened for an optimal siRNA targeting the novel gene HA117 using the pSOS-HUS method, verified the results of pSOS-HUS siRNA screening for optimal affinity for the target ...

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Preparation and characterization of polyphenol-loaded microcapsules based on zeaxylated protein

open access: yesApplied Food Research
Pomegranate seeds are rich in polyphenols, known for their significant health benefits. In this study, we developed microcapsules to encapsulate pomegranate seed polyphenols (PSP) using a combination of zeaxylated protein (Zein) and chitosan (Cs).

Protamine-like proteins have bactericidal activity. The first evidence in Mytilus galloprovincialis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The major acid-soluble protein components of the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis sperm chromatin consist of the protamine-like proteins PL-II, PL-III and PL-IV, an intermediate group of sperm nuclear basic proteins between histones and protamines.
