Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Glycerol as an Energy Source for Ruminants: A Meta-Analysis of in Vitro Experiments

open access: yesMedia Peternakan, 2016
Glycerol or glycerin is generally recognized as a safe compound to be used in animal feed, especially for ruminants. A number of in vitro studies related to glycerol supplementation in ruminant ration have been published but to date the results have not ...

Microbial Fermentation of Rice Straw: Nutritive Composition and In Vitro Digestibility of the Fermentation Products [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1975
Rice straw was fermented with Cellulomonas sp. and Alcaligenes faecalis . Microbial cells and undigested residue, as well as chemically treated (NaOH or NH 4 OH) and untreated straws, were analyzed for nutrient ...

Predicting methane production in dairy cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, to which enteric fermentation from ruminants contributes significantly. Reliable and accurate predictions of methane (CH₄) production from dairy cows would be of interest to develop mitigation strategies and for ...

In vitro digestion and fermentation characteristics of canola co-products simulate their digestion in the pig intestine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Canola co-products are sources of amino acid and energy in pig feeds, but their fermentation characteristics in the pig intestine are unknown. Thus, we determined the in vitro fermentation characteristics of the canola co-products Brassica juncea solvent-

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

In-vitro screening of Kalahari browse species for rumen methane mitigation

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2015
The nutritional value of browse foliage from the Thorny Kalahari Dune Bush veld of South Africa is not characterized. Most of this browse species is rich in tannin, but still palatable, and is consumed by ruminants during the dry season, as well as ...

Myrcene‐Based Tailored Co‐Polymers as Active Pharmaceutical Excipients: Bio‐Based Solutions for Mucoadhesive Excipients

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mucoadhesive amphiphilic block and statistical copolymers were synthesized via Reversible Addition–Fragmentation Chain Transfer polymerization from bio‐sourced myrcene and polyethylene glycol methacrylate. The resulting polymers exhibit narrow molar‐mass distributions, high regioselectivity, well‐defined microstructures, and tend to self‐assemble into ...
