Protective effects of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) on glucose homeostasis, lipid profile, and immune function in a Wistar rat model

open access: yesRuhuna Journal of Science
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is well known worldwide as a spice and as an herbal remedy for combating high blood sugar. The present study investigated the effect of fenugreek on glycemic, lipidemic and immunomodulatory potential using Wistar ...

A Novel Mouse Model of Enteric Vibrio parahaemolyticus Infection Reveals that the Type III Secretion System 2 Effector VopC Plays a Key Role in Tissue Invasion and Gastroenteritis

open access: yesmBio, 2019
The Gram-negative marine bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a common cause of infectious gastroenteritis due to the ingestion of contaminated seafood. Most virulent V.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Video_1_Application of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells in an in vivo model of peripheral nerve damage.MP4

open access: yes, 2022
BackgroundNeuropathic pain is one of the most difficult to treat chronic pain syndromes. It has significant effects on patients’ quality of life and substantially adds to the burden of direct and indirect medical costs.

Galleria mellonella as an alternative in vivo model to study bacterial biofilms on stainless steel and titanium implants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The purpose of this study was to establish an infection model of Galleria mellonella larvae as an alternative in vivo model for biofilm-associated infections on stainless steel and titanium implants. First, the model was established with sterile implants

In Vivo Evidence of Blue LED Light Photobiomodulation

open access: yesMedical Sciences Forum, 2023
The following study investigated the effects of blue LED light (410–430 nm) on wound healing in mice with superficial and full-thickness skin wounds. The wounds were treated with blue LED light (20.6 J/cm2, 30 s), and biopsies were collected over 6 days.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
