A machine learning model that outperforms conventional global subseasonal forecast models
Skillful subseasonal forecasts are crucial for various sectors of society but pose a grand scientific challenge. Recently, machine learning-based weather forecasting models outperform the most successful numerical weather predictions generated by the ...

Meeting embryonic requirements of broilers throughout incubation: a review [PDF]
During incubation of chicken embryos, environmental conditions, such as temperature, relative humidity, and CO2 concentration, must be controlled to meet embryonic requirements that change during the different phases of embryonic development.

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Activation of Ciona sperm motility: phosphorylation of dynein polypeptides and effects of a tyrosine kinase inhibitor [PDF]
A high molecular mass dynein ATPase polypeptide and a 18–20 kDa dynein light chain of Ciona sperm flagella are phosphorylated during in vivo activation of motility or in vitro activation of motility by incubation with cyclic AMP.

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Earlier hatching time predisposes Cobb broiler chickens to tibial dyschondroplasia
Fertile eggs from Cobb 500 broiler breeder hens were incubated to provide low starting egg shell temperatures (EST; 36.9°C to 37.3°C) which were gradually increased to 37.8°C during the first 7 to 15 days of incubation compared with eggs incubated with a

The effect of static incubation on the yolk sac vasculature of the Japanese quail (Coturnix c. japonica) [PDF]
Static incubation affects early embryonic development with, notably, a reduction area vasculosa expansion and diminished sub-embryonic fluid (SEF) volume, effects produced during a ‘critical’ period (3-7 days in the chick) (Baggott et al., 2002).
