In vitro and in sacco determination of neutral detergent fibre digestibility of treated cereal straw
Abstract Background Cereal straw is hardly digestible due to its complex bonds of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. That is why chemical treatments, such as with sodium hydroxide, may help to loosen the bonds and thus increase ruminal digestibility. Neutral detergent fibre (NDF) digestibility is a good predictor of feed intake.

ABSTRACT While β‐glucans from plants and yeasts have been extensively studied in weaned piglets, studies examining algae β‐glucans are scarce. Thus, the present study aimed to examine the effects of feeding algae β‐glucan in weaned piglets. Male, 21‐day‐old, weaned crossbred piglets were allotted to three experimental groups, which were fed either an ...

ABSTRACT DNA metabarcoding using relative read abundance (RRA) is commonly applied to estimate herbivore diet composition, yet its quantitative accuracy remains uncertain. We assessed taxonomic resolution and quantitative performance of RRA from DNA metabarcoding compared to metagenomic sequencing and hybridization capture, using deer scats from ...

Anatomical Characteristics of Cenchrus purpureus Under Rainfed and Irrigation
ABSTRACT Microscopy can serve as an auxiliary tool to elucidate differences in the nutritive value of plant tissues, given its strong correlation with chemical composition and in vitro digestibility. The objective was to evaluate the effect of tall and dwarf elephantgrass genotypes grown under rainfed or irrigated conditions during the dry and rainy ...

This study aimed to estimate the fractionation of carbohydrates and crude protein (CP), and the ruminal degradation rates of dry matter (DM), CP, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) in sorghum silages. Silages were prepared with or without the addition of 10% cottonseed cake (CSC, natural matter basis) and Weissella cibaria (W. cibaria).

Synbiotics are Better Than Probiotics and Prebiotics for Use as Nutrition in Growing Rabbits
This study demonstrates that synbiotic significantly enhances growth performance and nutrient digestibility in growing rabbits. The synbiotic approach improves feed conversion and skeletal development while lowering serum cholesterol and modulating immune cell counts.
