Protective Effects of Potential Probiotic Pediococcus acidilactici 100 Against Multi‐Drug‐Resistant Diarrheal Escherichia coli Strains Induced Changes in Caenorhabditis elegans Model System

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
This study shows the protective effects of potential probiotic strain of Pediococci strains against diarrheal Escherichia coli strains in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. The E. coli strains resulted in severe morphological and physiological damage to the worm whereas the probiotic interventions were able to reduce these damages.

The role of indole metabolites derived from gut microbiota in Parkinson's disease: A comprehensive review

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin
Emerging evidence suggests that Parkinson’s disease (PD) extends beyond the brain and involves early disturbances along the gut-brain axis. Among the metabolites shaping this communication, bacterial products derived from tryptophan, particularly indole ...

Catabolism of Amino Acids in the Cells of Lactic Acid Bacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011

Interkingdom Interactions in the Gut: Ecological Mechanisms, Homeostasis, and Therapeutic Modulation

open access: yesGut Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The gut microbiota constitutes a highly complex and dynamic ecosystem that profoundly influences host physiology, metabolism, and immunity. This review provides an integrative overview of the mechanisms through which gut microorganisms—particularly bacteria and fungi—interact with host cells and with each other to maintain intestinal ...

Construction of an O2‐responsive engineering bioreactor for enhanced indole‐3‐propionic acid production and deoxynivalenol detoxification

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
An oxygen‐responsive living bioreactor was engineered via interspecies protoplast fusion, converting oxygen from an inhibitory stress into a programmable signal for sustained indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) production. This genetically encoded bioreactor enables robust aerobic operation and therapeutic efficacy of deoxynivalenol detoxification in vivo ...

Research advances in the applications of mitochondria‐targeted cyanine dyes in imaging

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Near‐infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging, a novel non‐invasive diagnostic tool, plays a crucial role in the imaging and monitoring of solid tumors. At its core are NIR fluorescent dyes, which are widely utilized due to their ability to minimize tissue autofluorescence interference, thereby significantly enhancing the signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) and ...

Exploring the impact of microbial dysbiosis on ovarian cancer and the therapeutic potential of probiotics

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Ovarian cancer has been linked to the microbiome as a potential environmental contributor, but how this association relates to tumor progression remains unclear. By comparing tumor and nontumor tissues, we identified a severity‐associated microbial and metabolic signature and showed that probiotics can partially restore immune balance and slow tumor ...

First Tetraploa Genome and Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveal Key Plant‐Microbe‐Soil Interactions for Salt Tolerance and Yield Improvement of Wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Salinity is a major threat to global agricultural productivity of staple crops such as wheat. Although microbial‐based solutions hold promise for alleviating salinity stress, practical implementation is hindered by insufficient mechanistic characterization of bioinoculants and their interactions with plants.

Lactic acid induced defense responses in tobacco against Phytophthora nicotianae

open access: yesScientific Reports
Induced resistance is considered an eco-friendly disease control strategy, which can enhance plant disease resistance by inducing the plant’s immune system to activate the defense response.
