AI‐Designed Cyclic Peptides Enable Controllable Modulation of the CD28 Immune Checkpoint

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AI‐designed cyclic peptides enable controllable modulation of the CD28 immune checkpoint through reversible disruption of CD28‐CD80/CD86 interactions. The lead peptide, CIP‐3, suppresses T‐cell activation without intrinsic agonist activity, demonstrates dose‐dependent efficacy in a murine colitis model, and attenuates inflammatory cytokine production ...

pH regulates gut bacterial tryptophan metabolism

open access: yesnpj Biofilms and Microbiomes
Intestinal pH influences microbiota composition and activity, yet its impact on microbial metabolite production remains elusive. Gut bacterial tryptophan catabolism yields metabolites with opposing health effects.

Nano‐Backpack Engineered Probiotics with Reactive Oxygen Species–Responsive Tungsten Release for Synergistic Therapy of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated probiotic system is engineered to execute a programmed therapeutic cascade against inflammatory bowel disease. Upon pathological signals, the system sequentially performs ROS scavenging, tungsten release, and selective pathogen suppression, thereby breaking the oxidative stress–dysbiosis cycle to remodel gut microbiota and reinforce ...

Effects of indole on drug resistance and virulence of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium revealed by genome-wide analyses

open access: yesGut Pathogens, 2012
Background Many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria produce large quantities of indole as an intercellular signal in microbial communities. Indole demonstrated to affect gene expression in Escherichia coli as an intra-species signaling molecule.

Thermally Driven Supramolecular Chirality Evolution in Low‐Bandgap Fused‐Ring Conjugated Molecules for High‐Performance NIR Circularly Polarized Light Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A supramolecular chirality evolution strategy in chiral low‐bandgap fused‐ring conjugated molecules enables high‐performance near‐infrared (NIR) circularly polarized light photodetection. Halogen substitution and thermal annealing induce chiral amplification and hierarchical ordering. Integrated into Schottky barrier vertical transistors, the optimized

Targeted Delivery of Indole‐3‐Pyruvic Acid Suppresses Macrophage Ferroptosis to Enhance CD8+ T Cell‐Mediated Immunotherapy Response in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microbiota‐derived metabolite, indole‐3‐pyruvic acid, suppresses macrophage ferroptosis through the AHR–NF‐κB–SLC7A11 axis. This preserves CD8+ T cell function in bladder cancer. Macrophage‐targeted nanoparticles enhance indole‐3‐pyruvic acid delivery and overcome resistance to PD‐1 blockade.

Metagenomic Association Uncovers Host Genotype‐Structured Rhizobacterial Networks and Novel Taxa That Enhance Soybean Salt Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An STI‐guided metagenomic association framework links soybean salt‐tolerance phenotypes with rhizosphere microbiome composition and network organization in natural saline soils. The approach identifies candidate beneficial taxa, including Thalassospira xiamenensis, and provides an efficient strategy for mining stress‐protective microbes from native ...

Downregulation of Klebsiella pneumoniae RND efflux pump genes following indole signal produced by Escherichia coli

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Background More than a century has passed since it was discovered that many bacteria produce indole, but research into the actual biological roles of this molecule is just now beginning.

Bioengineered Exosome‐Loaded Immunomodulatory Bioadhesive Spray Reverses Liver Fibrosis and Metabolic Dysfunction That Triggers Beneficial Gut‐Liver Crosstalk in Chronic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Umbilical cord stem cell‐derived exosomes encapsulated in an immunomodulatory bioadhesive hydrogel spray enable localized therapy, sustained vesicle delivery, macrophage polarization, suppress systemic inflammation, and mitigate glucose and insulin homeostasis impairments in MAFLD.

Pd‐Catalyzed Asymmetric Dearomative Heck/Tsuji‐Trost Difunctionalization of Naphthalenes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We have developed a palladium‐catalyzed asymmetric dearomative Heck/Tsuji‐Trost 1,4‐difunctionalization reaction of naphthalenes, affording 4‐aminospirocyclohexene oxindole products bearing two remote chiral centers. Through the effect of the newly designed chiral sulfinamide phosphine ligand with large steric hindrance, side reactions are inhibited ...
