An interrupted Barton–Zard reaction/Friedel–Crafts alkylation telescoped reaction provides aryl‐substituted pyrrolo[3,4‐b] cores in moderate‐to‐good yields as mostly single diastereomers. The reaction is tolerant of a wide range of electron‐deficient indoles and (hetero)aromatic nucleophiles, offering a modular approach for the synthesis of multi ...

Access to N‐Monofluoromethylated (Thio)Carbamates, Formamides, Alkynamides, and Related Derivatives
The first general synthetic access to N‐CH₂F and N‐CHRF carbamates, thiocarbamates, formamides, alkynamides, and related compounds is disclosed. The method involves the direct synthesis of carbamoyl fluoride building blocks from readily available amines, followed by their derivatization. Abstract This work presents the first general synthetic access to

A straightforward method for constructing a tetrasubstituted carbon center through the in situ formation of 3‐methyleneisoindolinones as reactive intermediates has been developed. This process involves an acid‐catalyzed Meyer‐Schuster rearrangement of isoindolinone‐based propargylic alcohols, followed by an intermolecular Friedel‐Crafts alkylation ...

This study combines computational and experimental approaches to study how natural and synthetic small molecules interact with the ZTP riboswitch, a bacterial RNA element that regulates gene expression. Using chemical synthesis, biochemical approaches, and artificial intelligence augmented MD simulations, we analyze both ligand binding and riboswitch ...

Microbial Indoles: Key Regulators of Organ Growth and Metabolic Function
Gut microbes supporting body growth are known but the mechanisms are less well documented. Using the microbial tryptophan metabolite indole, known to regulate prokaryotic cell division and metabolic stress conditions, we mono-colonized germ-free (GF ...

BSN suppresses the cell viability of colorectal cancer by inducing GPX4‐regulated ferroptosis. BSN may bind to NRF2 protein to inactivate the NRF2 signaling, inhibiting the expression of p62 and HO‐1. Abstract Background Indole phytoalexins, plant‐derived compounds present in cruciferous vegetables, have demonstrated anticancer properties.

Harnessing Negative Photochromism in Styryl Cyanines for Light‐Modulated Proton Transport
We show how photo switchable styryl cyanines undergo an extremely efficient photochemical ring‐closing reaction upon irradiation. Furthermore, substituents on the ring and the nature of their surroundings can be used to tune their chemistry, kinetics, and photochemical properties. Finally, we demonstrate how these molecules can be used as smart dopants
