On a Ring Isomorphism Induced by Quasiconformal Mappings [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 1959
The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between a certain isomorphism of some rings of functions on Riemann surfaces and a quasi-conformal mapping. It is well known that two compact Hausdorff spaces are topologically equivalent if and only if their rings of continuous functions are isomorphic.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Natural Resources Research Institute Map

open access: yes, 2002
This map (NRRI/MAP-2002/02) is the outcome of eight field days mapping and sampling in the area by the senior author. The initial impetus for this mapping was to try to define Duluth Complex induced contact-metamorphic zonation in the footwall Giants ...

In vitro cytokine profiles and viability of different human cells treated with whole cell lysate of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis

open access: yesGut Pathogens, 2012
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is a zoonotic pathogen, a very slow growing bacterium which is difficult to isolate and passage in conventional laboratory culture.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Validation of precipitable water from ECMWF model analyses with GPS and radiosonde data during the MAP SOP

open access: yes, 2005
Precipitable water vapour contents (PWCs) from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) analyses have been compared with observations from 21 ground-based Global Positioning System receiving stations (GPS) and 14 radiosonde stations (RS)

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Brief Communication: Effect of Post-Mating Pro Gestagen Administration on Pregnancy Rate in Crossbred Goats Following an Induced Estrus

open access: yesRevista Científica, 2009
Estrus induced with progesterone or progestagens have low fertility compared to natural estrus. However, post-mating progesterone administration has been reported by increases embryo development and pregnancy rate; therefore the aim of this study was ...
