Affine Maps That Induce Polyhedral Complex Isomorphisms [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2000
An affine map between two polyhedral complexes which is bijective on the underlying sets need not induce an isomorphism of the complexes preserving the induced cell-complex structure. The key observation in this paper is that this is nevertheless true under an additional assumption: If an affine bijection \(f: T_1\to T_2\) between two polyhedral ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Study protocol: MRI-based assessment of cerebral blood flow under pharmacologically elevated blood pressure in patients under general anesthesia, and in sedated ICU patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundMaintaining cerebral perfusion during anesthesia and intensive care is critical, yet the relationship between mean arterial pressure (MAP) and cerebral blood flow (CBF) remains poorly defined. In patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Integrated Transcriptomic and Metabolomic Analysis Reveals the Adaptive Mechanism of Penicillium digitatum under Modified Atmosphere Packaging Based on Amino Acid Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
This study employed integrated multi-omics approaches to elucidate, from the perspective of amino acid metabolism, the adaptive mechanism of Penicillium digitatum under modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) conditions.

Equilibrium measures for maps with inducing schemes

open access: yesJournal of Modern Dynamics, 2008
We introduce a class of continuous maps f of a compact metric space I admitting inducing schemes and describe the tower constructions associated with them. We then establish a thermodynamical formalism, i.e., describe a class of real-valued potential functions ϕon I which admit unique equilibrium measures μ_ϕminimizing the free energy for a certain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of influenza vaccination with a high-density microarray patch: Results from a randomized, controlled phase I clinical trial.

open access: yesPLoS Medicine, 2020
BACKGROUND:The Vaxxas high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP) consists of a high density of microprojections coated with vaccine for delivery into the skin. Microarray patches (MAPs) offer the possibility of improved vaccine thermostability as well as the
