Theoretical modelling of hot gas ingestion through turbine rim seals

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2012
The rim seals of gas turbines are used to prevent or reduce the ingestion of hot mainstream gas into the wheel-space between the turbine rotor and its adjacent stationary casing.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

A SDN-Based Vehicular Mobility Management for a Shared-Prefix Model Over IEEE WAVE IPv6 Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access
IETF IP WAVE Working Group proposes a vehicular mobility management scheme with a shared-prefix model that multiple RSUs share a common prefix. When using a shared-prefix model, a WAVE wireless interface on a vehicle does not need to reconfigure its IPv6

Estimating Corrosion Initiation Period Due to Chloride Ingress into Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete Incorporating High Volume Fly Ash

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
One of the main sources of reinforcement corrosion is the ingress of chloride ion into a concrete structure. The rate of chloride ingress and its consequence to initiate corrosion could determine the service life of the structure.

Long-term, multiwavelength light curves of ultra-cool dwarfs: II. The evolving light curves of the T2. 5 SIMP 0136 & the uncorrelated light curves of the M9 TVLM 513 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present multiwavelength, multi-telescope, ground-based follow-up photometry of the white dwarf WD 1145+017, that has recently been suggested to be orbited by up to six or more, short-period, low- mass, disintegrating planetesimals.

Distributed Optimization of Multi-Cell Uplink Co-operation with Backhaul Constraints

open access: yes, 2015
We address the problem of uplink co-operative reception with constraints on both backhaul bandwidth and the receiver aperture, or number of antenna signals that can be processed.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Towards consistent mapping of distant worlds: secondary-eclipse scanning of the exoplanet HD189733b

open access: yes, 2012
Mapping distant worlds is the next frontier for exoplanet infrared photometry studies. Ultimately, constraining spatial and temporal properties of an exoplanet atmosphere will provide further insight into its physics. For tidally-locked hot Jupiters that
