Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Analysis of a Mathematical Model of Apoptosis: Individual Differences and Malfunction in Programmed Cell Death [PDF]
Apoptosis is an important area of research because of its role in keeping a mature multicellular organism's number of cells constant hence, ensuring that the organism does not have cell accumulation that may transform into cancer with additional hallmarks.

A decade of clinical development of PARP inhibitors in perspective
Genomic instability is a hallmark of cancer, and often is the result of altered DNA repair capacities in tumour cells. DNA damage repair defects are common in different cancer types; these alterations can also induce tumour-specific vulnerabilities that ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

A series of quinazoline derivatives with benzylidene hydrazine carboxamide were designed and synthesised as EGFR inhibitors. Most compounds exhibited exceptional anti-proliferative activity against A549, HepG2, MCF-7 and H1975 cells.

InhibiDistilbert: Knowledge Distillation for a ReLU and Addition-based Transformer [PDF]
This work explores optimizing transformer-based language models by integrating model compression techniques with inhibitor attention, a novel alternative attention mechanism. Inhibitor attention employs Manhattan distances and ReLU activations instead of the matrix multiplications and softmax activation of the conventional scaled dot-product attention.

Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors as Anticancer Drugs
Carcinogenesis cannot be explained only by genetic alterations, but also involves epigenetic processes. Modification of histones by acetylation plays a key role in epigenetic regulation of gene expression and is controlled by the balance between histone ...

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Non-Adaptive Group Testing with Inhibitors [PDF]
Group testing with inhibitors (GTI) introduced by Farach at al. is studied in this paper. There are three types of items, $d$ defectives, $r$ inhibitors and $n-d-r$ normal items in a population of $n$ items. The presence of any inhibitor in a test can prevent the expression of a defective. For this model, we propose a probabilistic non-adaptive pooling
