Demonstration of down-chirped and chirp-free pulses from high-repetition-rate passively mode-locked lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Knowledge and control of the chirp parameters of semiconductor lasers is a prerequisite to obtaining transform-limited pulses and/or to compensate for group velocity dispersion in fiber.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

An Analysis on the Effects of the Fuel Injection Rate Shape of the Diesel Spray Mixing Process Using a Numerical Simulation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In diesel engines, fuel mixing is an important process in determining the combustion efficiency and emissions level. One of the measures used to achieve fuel mixing is controlling the nature and behavior of the fuel spray by shaping the injection rate ...

Pneumatic and Optical Characterization and Optimization of Hydrogen Injectors for Internal Combustion Engine Application

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2022
To achieve future emission targets for internal combustion engines, the use of hydrogen gas generated by renewable energy sources (known as “green” hydrogen) instead of fossil fuels plays a key role in the development of new combustion-based engine ...

Six months follow up of a single intravitreal injection of ocriplasmin for symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and the safety of the enzymatic vitreolysis with a single intravitreal injection of ocriplasmin 125 μg across a group of patients with symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion (sVMA) during 6 months follow up.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Injection of Chemicals Into Irrigation Systems: Rates, Volumes, and Injection Periods

open access: yesEDIS, 1998
Irrigation systems play a crucial role in delivering soluble chemicals to crops through a process known as chemigation. This method allows for precise application of chemicals to either the root zone or aerial parts of plants, or both. Specialized equipment is required for chemigation, with various injection methods available.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
