Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate Receptors as Signal Integrators
Annual Review of Biochemistry, 2004▪ Abstract  The inositol 1,4,5 trisphosphate (IP3) receptor (IP3R) is a Ca2+ release channel that responds to the second messenger IP3. Exquisite modulation of intracellular Ca2+ release via IP3Rs is achieved by the ability of IP3R to integrate signals from numerous small molecules and proteins including nucleotides, kinases, and phosphatases, as well

Photoreceptor excitation and adaptation by inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate
Nature, 1984A central question concerning vision is the identity of the biochemical pathway that underlies phototransduction. The large size of the ventral photoreceptors of Limulus polyphemus renders them a favourite preparation for investigating this problem. The fact that a single photon opens approximately 1,000 ionic channels in these photoreceptors suggests ...

Metabolism of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and IP3-induced release of Ca2+ was analyzed in permeabilized human platelets. Both rapid Ca2+ release and hydrolysis of IP3 to inositol 1,4-bisphosphate (IP2) was observed after addition of IP3 to permeabilized, Ca(2+)-loaded platelets. In the absence of ATP or in the presence of inhibitors of the Ca(2+)

The inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor.
Ciba Foundation symposium, 1992Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (InsP3) is a second messenger that releases Ca2+ from its intracellular stores. The InsP3 receptor has been purified and its cDNA has been cloned. We have found that the InsP3 receptor is identical to P400 protein, first identified as a protein enriched in cerebellar Purkinje cells.

The nuclear inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate receptors
Cell Calcium, 1994IP3R is located to the inner nuclear membrane. Nuclear IP3R is recognized as a 220 kD immunoreactive protein by antisera raised against purified rat brain IP3R. Antisera against C-terminal 95-108 peptide fragment derived from rat brain IP3R does not reveal immunoreactivity in the nucleus.
