Mitochondrial respiration and Ca2+ waves are linked during fertilization and meiosis completion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Fertilization increases both cytosolic Ca(2+) concentration and oxygen consumption in the egg but the relationship between these two phenomena remains largely obscure.

Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor 1 is essential to spinocerebellar ataxia modeling

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2015
A suite of models was developed to study the role of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor 1 (IP3R1) in spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Several SCAs are linked to reduced abundance of IP3R1 or to supranormal sensitivity of the receptor to activation by ...

Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor expression in odontoblast cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The cellular distribution of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors was examined in rodent maxillary incisor teeth. In situ hybridization studies with a transmembrane probe of type I inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor indicated that this receptor ...

Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate and Calcium Regulate the Calcium Channel Function of the Hepatic Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1997
The regulation of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor in liver was analyzed using a novel superfusion method. Hepatic microsomes were loaded with 45Ca2+, and superfused at high flow rates to provide precise control over IP3 and Ca2+ concentrations ([Ca2+]) and to isolate 45Ca2+ release from reuptake.

Anti-leptin receptor antibody mimics the stimulation of lipolysis induced by leptin in isolated mouse fat pads

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
An anti-leptin receptor polyclonal antibody (receptor antibody), as well as leptin, stimulated the release of free fatty acids from isolated mouse fat pads in a time-dependent manner.

2- and 3-dimensional confocal imaging of Fluo-4 loaded ureteric microvesells in situ allowed us to demonstrate distinct morphology, Ca2+ signalling and contractility in myocytes of arcade arterioles and pericytes of arcade venules.

Stimulation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor subtypes by analogues of IP3. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Most animal cells express mixtures of the three subtypes of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP(3)R) encoded by vertebrate genomes. Activation of each subtype by different agonists has not hitherto been examined in cells expressing defined ...

A protocol for detecting elemental calcium signals (Ca2+ puffs) in mammalian cells using total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2021
Summary: This protocol outlines steps to visualize and detect Ca2+ puffs following photo-liberation of caged inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) from HEK-293 cells expressing only the native IP3R type 1 receptor using total internal reflection ...

TMEM16A Ca2+-activated Cl− channel inhibition ameliorates acute pancreatitis via the IP3R/Ca2+/NFκB/IL-6 signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Research, 2020
TMEM16A Ca2+-activated Cl− channels are expressed in pancreatic acinar cells and participate in inflammation-associated diseases. Whether TMEM16A contributes to the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis (AP) remains unknown.

Cardiac inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 2017
Calcium is a second messenger that regulates almost all cellular functions. In cardiomyocytes, calcium plays an integral role in many functions including muscle contraction, gene expression, and cell death. Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IP3Rs) are a family of calcium channels that are ubiquitously expressed in all tissues. In the heart, IP3Rs
