Abstract This article explores the ways in which ‘forest school’, an educational approach where children engage in creative and play based activities in a ‘natural’ environment, can contribute towards Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15) by promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and by helping address biodiversity loss. Hyperspectral proximal sensing was used to characterize the life stages and physiological responses of Diatraea saccharalis and to detect parasitism by Cotesia flavipes. Distinct spectral signatures differentiated eggs, larval instars, pupae, and adults, as well as live, dead, and parasitized larvae.

Amendment of Potting Soil With Black Soldier Fly Byproducts Affects Fungus Gnat Development
The study's three experiments were conducted in accordance with the development stages of fungus gnats, with adults emerging from the four treatment substrates and being caught on sticky cards as a common indicator. The treatments were formed from peat‐free potting soil, either pure or supplemented with combinations of byproducts from black soldier fly

Insect blood meal studies using radiosodium 24Na and 22Na.
Rabbits were infused with 3.7 GBq (100 mCi) of [24Na]Na ion in a 100-ml sodium carbonate solution. Beta particles were detected using a Tennelec Counting System; background counts were 1.6 +/- 1 counts per minute (cpm). Counts for one nanoliter of blood ranged from 22 to 30 cpm. Blood volumes on the mouthparts of tabanids following a 15-sec interrupted

We assessed Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) performance on five common pasture plant species. Larvae consumed more dock, plantain and chicory per day than red or white clover, but with lower conversion efficiencies. Feeding on red clover reduced weights and egg laying, and lengthened development times compared with plantain.
