Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Adsorption of Heterocyclic Amines by Insoluble Dietary Fiber

open access: yesFood Hygiene and Safety Science (Shokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi), 1996
Adsorption of IQ, Trp-P-1 and Trp-P-2 on insoluble dietary fiber, cellulose, CM-cellulose, xylan, chitin, collagen and acid detergent fiber (ADF: containing cellulose and lignin) from nine species of edible plants was measured by HPLC. Cellulose and ADF from burdock, dropwort and bamboo shoot showed high adsorptive power for IQ, Trp-P-1 and Trp-P-2 ...

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.
