Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Proteins: A Structural Perspective [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2012
Insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBP-1 to -6) bind insulin-like growth factors-I and -II (IGF-I and IGF-II) with high affinity. These binding proteins maintain IGFs in the circulation and direct them to target tissues, where they promote cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, and survival via the type 1 IGF receptor.

MiR-384 Inhibits Malignant Biological Behavior Such as Proliferation and Invasion of Osteosarcoma by Regulating IGFBP3

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2020
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in the clinic. It is more common in children and adolescents. It has high malignancy, early metastasis rate, rapid disease progression, and high mortality.

Nuclear Actions of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3

open access: yesGene, 2015
In addition to its actions outside the cell, cellular uptake and nuclear import of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) has been recognized for almost two decades, but knowledge of its nuclear actions has been slow to emerge.

Insulin-Like Growth Factor-Binding Proteins of Teleost Fishes [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
The insulin-like growth factor (Igf) binding protein (Igfbp) family has a broad range of physiological functions and a fascinating evolutionary history. This review focuses on the Igfbps of teleost fishes, where genome duplication events have diversified gene repertoire, function, and physiological regulation-with six core Igfbps expanded into a family

Insulin-like growth factor-I and its binding proteins in healthy mothers and their newborns [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2004
Objective: To determine serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-I, free insulin-like growth factor-I and its binding proteins in maternalserum and in cord blood of two groups of newborns with differentbirth weights.

The Insight into Insulin-Like Growth Factors and Insulin-Like Growth-Factor-Binding Proteins and Metabolic Profile in Pediatric Obesity [PDF]

open access: yesNutrients, 2021
Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and insulin-like growth-factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) regulate cell proliferation and differentiation and may be of importance in obesity development. The aim of the study was to analyze the expression of chosen IGF-axis genes and the concentration of their protein products in 28 obese children (OB) and 34 healthy ...

IGF-Binding Proteins: Why Do They Exist and Why Are There So Many?

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) are key growth-promoting peptides that act as both endocrine hormones and autocrine/paracrine growth factors. In the bloodstream and in local tissues, most IGF molecules are bound by one of the members of the IGF ...

IGF-I and IGFBP-3 serum levels in patients hospitalized for complications of liver cirrhosis

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2013
Background. IGF-I and IGFBP-3 are part of IGF system and, due to their predominantly hepatic synthesis, they seem to correlate with hepatic dysfunction intensity. Aims.

Insulin-like growth factor 1 stimulates the angiogenic activity of adipose tissue–derived microvascular fragments

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering, 2019
Angiogenesis in adipose tissue is promoted by insulin-like growth factor 1 signaling. We analyzed whether this regulatory mechanism also improves the angiogenic activity of adipose tissue–derived microvascular fragments.

Pregnancy-associated Plasma Protein-A2 (PAPP-A2), a Novel Insulin-like Growth Factor-binding Protein-5 Proteinase*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2001
A novel metalloproteinase with similarity to pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), which we denoted PAPP-A2, has been identified. Through expression in mammalian cells we showed that recombinant PAPP-A2 polypeptide of 1558 residues resulted ...
