Insulin-like growth factors I and II of nonmammalian sera
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1985We have compared the insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) of a number of mammalian and nonmammalian vertebrate sera. Sera were subjected to acid gel filtration through G-75 Sephadex and separate binding protein and free IGF fractions were pooled. The IGF pools were subjected to flatbed isoelectric focusing and the concentration of IGF I in the fractions ...

Insulin-like growth factor II induces apoptosis in osteoblasts
Bone, 2004The ability of insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) to modulate apoptosis was studied in murine osteoblasts. At 72 h of culture, 0.01, 0.1, and 1.0 nM IGF-II produced a dose-dependent increase in apoptosis assayed by TdT-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) and confirmed with acridine orange-ethidium bromide staining.

Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II).
The international journal of biochemistry & cell biology, 1998Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) plays a key role in mammalian growth, influencing foetal cell division and differentiation and possibly metabolic regulation. The mature 67 amino acid peptide shares sequence homology with both insulin and IGF-I.

We investigated the expression of c-fos in mouse osteoblast-like cultures treated with insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I and IGF-II. The IGFs are present in bone, are produced by osteoblast-like cells in culture, and stimulate osteoblast cell proliferation. Quiescent, subconfluent cultures of the clonal osteoblast-like mouse calvarial cell line, MC3T3-

Abstract. Binding of labelled IGF-I and IGF-II was studied to bovine, ovine and human placental cell membranes. The data show a preponderance of type I receptors in human placental membranes, and of type II receptors in ovine placental membranes, confirming reported data.

Purification and characterization of insulin-like growth factor-II receptors
1989Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the purification and characterization of insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) receptors. Successful purifications of IGF-II receptor to date have all employed IGF-II-agarose affinity chromatography. This technique has the advantage of being highly specific for the IGF-II receptor, resulting in high yields of

Abstract. IGF-I and IGF-II are peptides with mitogenic properties. In this study mRNA for IGF-I and IGF-II was analysed in rat uterine tissue after different endocrine manipulations and the possibility of an estrogenic regulation of IGF expression was investigated. Both IGF-I and IGF-II mRNA were present in uterine tissue.

The molecular and cellular biology of insulin-like growth factor II
Progress in Growth Factor Research, 1992Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) is a 67 amino acid polypeptide that belongs to the family of insulin-like peptides. The IGF-II gene is coupled to the insulin gene and paternally imprinted. Multiple IGF-II mRNAs with identical coding regions and 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) but different 5' UTRs are generated from 3 promoters.

Expression of insulin‐like growth factor II mRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 1998ABSTRACTInsulin‐like growth factor II (IGF‐II) is a mitogenic polypeptide closely related to insulin. Its gene has complex regulation of transcription, resulting in multiple mRNA initiated by different promoters. To study its role in hepatocarcinogenesis, we examined the expression of IGF‐II mRNA in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and correlated it ...

Differential expression of insulin-like growth factor II in human meningiomas
Neurosurgery, 1991Two glioma tumor lines and brain tumor specimens from 10 patients were analyzed to determine genic expression of insulin-like growth factor II. Messenger ribonucleic acid encoding insulin-like growth factor II was found to be expressed in significant amounts in two of two meningiomas but not in any of the gliomas.
